I Said, NO​

 Premiering with Parkway Picture Show at Blanc Gallery

SEPTEMBER 30TH

I Said No is a short dance film about consent in the Latin dance community and nightclub dance scene, created by Angela Townsend and directed by Gabriella Wiltz.

 

This is a short dance film with music, limited dialogue, and no captions.

​

The premiere will take place at the Blanc Gallery in Bronzeville. Doors open at 5pm, film will be screened at 6pm. Music by DJ Julio Bishop.

Your ticket includes access to the open bar and will go towards our Impact Campaign and film screenings funds!

 

Drink and drive responsibly.

There is a parking lot and street parking available.

Trap Moulin Rouge, the dance film projection by Jasmin Taylor  in co-production with Motion/Pictures Dance Project takes audiences to 79th street on Chicago’s South Side to showcase the vibrant culture and dance that emanates from it. Taking sonic and aesthetic inspiration from the 2001 film “Moulin Rouge,” Trap Moulin Rouge combines classical, R&B and jazz melodies with a variety of dance styles with the aim of creating and promoting equity in Chicago through the performing arts. Trap Moulin Rouge is set to premier on Merchandise Mart for Art on theMART’s "Year of Dance" fall season–running NIGHTLY FOR FREE, from Thursday September 8 through Wednesday, November 18, 2022.

FAMILY TREE SCREENING + Q&A WITH CHOREOGRAPHER / DANCERS

JANUARY 23RD - 2:00PM CST

Join us for a screening of Family Tree, created with Loyola University Chicago dance students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Filmed outdoors along Chicago’s beaches, voiceovers of familial stories create duets with soloed movement, creating a larger, cohesive story of each dancer’s journey.

Co-directed by Sarah Cullen Fuller and Talia Koylass.

A TALE OF TWO SCREENING + Q&A WITH FILMMAKERS

From the minds of co-Directors Rena Butler and Talia Koylass, In/Motion is proud to screen A Tale of Two (2020). Featuring dancers from Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, this film explores what it’s like to grow up in Chicago - a city of many dualities. After the screening, join Rena Butler, Talia Koylass, Alysia Johnson (dancer) and Nathaniel Viets-VanLear (My Block My Hood My City) for a conversation about the film, the journey of creating it, and how we can use art to make a positive impact on our own communities.

This will screen alongside other works surrounding social justice, and is the premiere event for Jordan Rome's latest film in her series, 365 Ways to Kill An American.
